Veterans Disability Compensation Benefits
In order to be eligible for veterans disability compensation, you must have a service-related disability, and you must have been other than dishonorably discharged from service.
The compensation is paid monthly, and the amount of compensation depends upon the extent of your disability. You may be entitled to additional benefits if you have a very serious disability, if you have a spouse or dependents, or if your spouse is seriously disabled.
Available disability compensation also includes benefits for those who suffered sexual or personal trauma while serving in the military. The Veterans Administration describes sexual or personal trauma as “events of human design that threaten or inflict harm.” These might include, for instance: rape or other physical assault, domestic battering, and stalking. Such events might result in a disability such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
